Dr. Ashwani Bhat is a Consultant Neurologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun, India. With over a decade of experience in neurology, Dr. Bhat combines clinical expertise, academic leadership, and a strong commitment to research in neurocognitive sciences.

He completed his DM in Neurology from IPGMER & SSKM Hospital, Kolkata, and holds an MD in Internal Medicine from Government Medical College, Srinagar. His areas of interest include cognitive neurology, vascular cognitive disorders, post-stroke cognitive impairment, neurodegeneration, neurorehabilitation, and neuromodulation. He is particularly passionate about bridging the gap in dementia research within the Indian context by promoting community-based studies and culturally relevant diagnostic approaches.

Dr. Bhat has authored several peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals, with contributions spanning vascular dementia, behavioral neurology, tele-neuropsychology, and neuroepidemiology. His research has been presented at prestigious forums such as the International Society of Vascular Behavioral and Cognitive Disorders (VasCoG), the Asia Pacific Stroke Congress, and the World Neurology Congress. He has also been a  speaker multiple conferences.


In addition to his academic and research endeavors, Dr. Bhat plays a pivotal role in mentoring postgraduate neurology trainees and medical students, fostering a spirit of scientific inquiry and clinical excellence. He is an active member of the Indian Academy of Neurology and several regional neurological societies, contributing to collaborative efforts aimed at improving neurological care in India.
